Mr. Crath has extensive experience as a principal investor, merchant banking and mergers and acquisitions executive, financier, business development, general counsel and strategic advisor to family investors, chief executive officers, boards and owners of growing companies and fund management companies. Mr. Crath is active in corporate finance strategy and development for several mid-market growth stage companies, including mergers and acquisitions and financing initiatives, where he has had past success with multiple investments, buyouts and dispositions for past portfolio companies. Mr. Crath also works extensively in a senior role with several groups in structured product development work and marketing of investment funds. In his role as consultant to Accilent Capital, Mr. Crath provides advisory and investment services in the following areas: (i) specialty mergers and merchant banking transactions and investment products and (ii) investment fund development services, where his focus is on product development and institutional/high net worth sales and marketing and legal and financial structuring.
Mr. Crath is also Managing Director of Tarra Partners Inc. that focuses on institutional real estate, private equity and infrastructure investments.
Mr. Crath is a former Vice-President and Principal of Tricaster Capital Corporation, a family investment company and merchant bank he co-founded with the Campbell family of Toronto, and a Vice-President and Principal of Hexagram & Co. a venture management company that acted as co-owner, operator and advisor to a Canadian-based private manufacturing company prior to its sale to a major investment company, and in that role also acted as interim executive and advisor to a major international family owned real estate company.
Mr. Crath has also acted as an advisor to and an early stage investor in: Moontaxi Media Inc. the parent company of Puretracks that has been sold to the Bell Sympatico Unit of BCE; Contestix.com Inc. the predecessor company to C3 Communications Inc. sold to True North (TSX:TN) and privately-held Softek Computer Services Inc., a financial software company serving the prime brokerage and credit marketplaces.
He began his career as a corporate lawyer at White & Case, LLP in New York City, specializing in acquisition financings. He has a Bachelor of Law Degree from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University and is a Member of the New York State Bar Association.
